Francis Martin lives and works within walking distance to the subject matter of his practice. His work investigates the natural landscape through changing light, weather and the seasons.

Small paintings made on location and other reference material are collected in the studio where ideas and rememberances can be constructed into larger works over time.

Francis also enjoys working with the still life, portrait and figure -subjects which he regularly teaches in classes for painting and drawing.

Francis studied fine art practice and theory at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton before completing a postgraduate scholarship at the Royal Drawing School, London.

His paintings and drawings are held in public and private collections across the UK and Europe.
