“My intention with painting is to investigate a fascination with the subject matter of our everyday. I often paint quite slowly, looking all the time and I like the idea that my painting represents the consideration of an extended time span, an accumulation of many hours of observation. Working from life, I’m interested in how subtle changes of light can alter my perception of a subject -the cooler morning light of my studio compared with warmer tones in the afternoon, or even the static lighting of the nocturnal environment, both a landscape and still life.”
